Racine Markiewicz

Racine Markiewicz, age 80 (nee Calhoun), passed away on December 30, 2016. She was born in Leburn, KY, on April 7, 1936. She graduated from Hindman High School, KY in 1953. Soon after moving to Miami, FL, where she met and married James M. Coglianese, she then entered the Nurses Training Program at Marshall University, Huntington, WV, where she graduated in 1957. They moved to Hollywood, FL, had three daughters; and she found work at Drs. Stone & Finemans' Office for many years. After divorcing, she married Raymond Markiewicz and later moved to Venice, FL. Rae, as she was known, worked as the Director of Nursing at Village on the Isle for 10 years; retiring in October of 1999. She enjoyed gardening and beach days shelling, fishing, and searching for sharks teeth. Rae is survived by daughters Karen Coglianese, and Kelli Rodgers, both of North Port; grandsons Blaine Coglianese of Bradenton, FL and Michael Rodgers of North Port; brothers Max Bear Calhoun of Venice, FL and Rex Calhoun of Campton, KY; sister Clara Belle Dunoy of Estero, FL; Special friend Sammy Lloyd Tackett of Jacksonville, FL; and several surviving cousins. Racine is preceded in death by her daughter Kim Marie Coglianese, husband Raymond Markiewicz, brother Don Calhoun of Jackson, KY, and parents Eunice (aka Peanut) and Vera Calhoun of Leburn, KY.
