Reinhold Gerhard

Reinhold Gerhard, age 90, of North Port, FL went to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 25, 2016 born September 15, 1925 in Germany. He immigrated to New York with his wife and infant daughter in 1952 and retired to Florida in 1986. He was a bricklayer by trade, an avid gardener, loved the outdoors and bicycled hundreds of miles around North Port until he was 88. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and is remembered for his love of family, patience, strength and generosity. He was active at the First Church of God in New Jersey and Florida. He is survived by Elmira, his loving wife of 64 years; his children Doris Kaufman (Mark), Ingrid Delaney (Bob), Monica Babcock, Rudi Gerhard (Ann) and Karl Gerhard (Eileen), grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In celebration of his life, a funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at The First Church of God, 351 Orange Road, Venice, FL. There will be a viewing at 9:00 a.m. and a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Venice Memorial Gardens. Farley Funeral Home in North Port is handling the arrangements.
