Richard E. Bigelow

Richard E. Bigelow, age 88, passed away at Consulate Health of Port Charlotte, Florida. Richard (Dick) was married in 1949 to Joan Leverenz and had three sons, Michael, Steven, Richard (Rick); Richard also had two brothers, Clifford, Herbert and two sisters, Betty and Doris.Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana he graduated from Tech High School then joined the Marine Corp where he learned to be a machinist. After his marriage, he was employed by Bryant Heating & Air and retired after 35 years. In 1985 he moved to Florida and worked for SCAT manufacturing busses and they were amazed by his expertise. Richard loved fishing, tennis, bowling, playing cards and Bingo! He coached his son through little league and was a great inspiration. He and Joan were members of Christ United Methodist Church in Venice. Richard is survived by his wife, Joan; two sons, Steven, Richard and grandchildren; Shamen, Sarah, Pamela, Brennan and Michael J. He was preceded in death by his son Mike. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and place to be announced. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
