Richard (Dick) Burt, 75, of Venice, (formerly of East Hanover, NJ) died on July 7, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia (Garner) Burt, daughter Danielle Durkin, her husband Patrick Durkin of Florida, NY and grandchildren Jessica, Brendan and Julia, 3 nieces and 6 great nieces. He is predeceased by his parents Purnell Burt and Margaret Spielberger; sister Mary LoSapio and brother in law Gabe LoSapio. Richard was a very proud Marine and served from 1961-1965. He retired in 2003 from Advance Publications- the Star Ledger in NJ and he and his wife moved to Venice, FL. He attended St. Rose of Lime in NJ and Epiphany Cathedral in Venice. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He enjoyed boating, golf, the sun, but mostly family gatherings, especially at Christmas. Richard's extended family on Patricia's side includes mother in law Doris Garner, Walter and Lenore Garner, James and Rita Garner, Gary (deceased) and Karen Garner, Kathleen and Rick Scrudato, 11 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 6:00PM to 9:00pm at Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory, 265 S. Nokomis Ave Venice. Burial will be Thursday, July 12 930AM at Sarasota National Cemetery 9810 SR 72 Sarasota. Please visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence message.
