Richard James "Dick" Dunn

Richard (Dick) James Dunn went home to be with the Lord on December 7, 2017, he was 91 years old. Dick was a fun-loving humorist who always made people laugh with his witty puns and his dry sense of humor. Dick grew up in Birmingham, Michigan and was a teacher and coach for 38 years in the Clawson School District. Not only did he love coaching, but he also loved playing and watching sports. He boxed and played football for Western Michigan University and the semi pro Dearborn All-stars football team, he also played softball and golf in his later years. He enjoyed playing cards especially euchre, pinochle, and cribbage. Dick was an avid hunter and loved going to Canada Creek Ranch where he hunted, snowmobiled and enjoyed watching wildlife and being in the great outdoors. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Marjorie (Koebel) Dunn and his four children, Janet (Paul) Edwards, James Dunn, Jane Gordon, and Joseph (Lora) Dunn, two grandchildren Joshua Dunn and Jardena (Gabriel) Martinez, and two great grandchildren Chase and Jamison Martinez. He was preceded in death by his parents John Francis Dunn and Anna Jocie Coggins Dunn and three brothers Reverend John Francis Dunn, George Coggins Dunn, and Charles Donald Dunn. A Catholic Mass in remembrance of Richard will be held at San Pedro Church in North Port, Florida at 10am on December 20, 2017. A celebration of life will be held in Michigan in May of 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude's Children's hospital or the American Heart Association.
