Richard L. "Dick" Scharno

Richard ""Dick"" Scharno of Venice, Florida passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Charlotte nee Kraus, his sister Sally Hanson, children Catherine Kramer, Nancy Paulus (Glenn) and son Lawrence Scharno, as well as Grandsons Dan (Tammi) and Jack Kramer, and Garrett (Shannon) and Nathan (Meghann) Holt, and great grandsons Bennett Kramer and Lincoln Kramer. After service in the Korean War, serving in the Air Force, Dick worked for American Can and James River in the food packaging industry. Following his retirement to Venice, FL he volunteered for 12 years at Venice Hospital and as an Election Judge over several elections. Many Saturdays he could be found golfing with ""The Men"" from GOSGA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 29th at 10 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, followed by inurnment at Sarasota National Cemetery. The family is deeply appreciative for the loving care given by Senior Helpers and Tidewell Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Tidewell Hospice.
