Robert "Bob" L. Rush

Robert L. “Bob” Rush, of Venice, Florida, passed away on October 23, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born on February 22, 1935, in Queens, New York, and grew up in Milford, Pennsylvania. He moved to Venice in 1999 from Fairfax, Virginia.

Bob was a computer programmer known for his exceptional intelligence and problem-solving abilities. He was also a seaman and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as an usher at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ellen Rush of Venice; daughters, Anne-Marie (Fred) Stacey of Washington, Virginia, and Sally (Tim) Stone of Maidens, Virginia; step-sons, Michael (Gosia) James of Falls Church, Virginia, Thomas (Claudia) James of Fairfax, Virginia, and John James of Burke, Virginia; step-daughter, Jeanne (John) Gibson of Roanoke, Virginia; and many beloved grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home in Venice on Sunday, November 15, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice. A committal service with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1301 Center Road, Venice, Florida 34292, in Bob’s memory.
