Robert E. Johnson, age 83, of Venice, Florida, passed away on December 23, 2013. He was born on August 17, 1930 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Robert retired from the U.S. Post office as a mail clerk and also served in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Green Mountain Hiking Club, FMCA Green Mountain Chapter, Tin Can Sailors Squadron in Venice and also the American Legion Post # 159 in Venice. Robert is survived by the love of his life wife, Lorraine; a daughter, Sandra Johnson-Long (Aiken) of Barnet, Vermont; two sisters, Connie Corliss of Queensbury, New York, Dawn Chandler of Phoenix, Arizona. He also leaves behind two loving grandchildren, Natasha & Tristan Long, two great-grandchildren Raven West and Kaileigh West and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Farley Funeral Home in Venice.
