Robert James Muldoon
Dec 3, 1957 — Aug 7, 2026
Robert James Muldoon, known to those who loved him as Robbie, passed away on August 7, 2026, in Sarasota, Florida. He was 68 years old.
Born in Yonkers, New York, on December 3, 1957, Robbie grew up in Yonkers and Putnam Valley, where some of his happiest memories were made. As a teenager, he loved spending time on Lake Oscawana, a place that remained part of the stories and memories he carried with him throughout his life.
Robbie graduated from Yonkers High School and built a career in the automobile business that spanned more than 30 years, working in Ford dealerships in New York and Florida, including more than 25 years with the Matthews-Currie dealerships. He was known for his ability to connect with people, and he became a familiar and trusted presence to countless colleagues and customers. Robbie also had a memorable stint in front of the camera. He was known as "Big Money Rob," the larger-than-life personality who hosted his own used-car television program. It was a perfect fit for someone who loved cars, loved to talk, and never met a story he couldn't make more entertaining.
But Robbie's greatest accomplishments were never found on a résumé. They were found in the people around him. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and a natural talent for storytelling. He could turn an ordinary moment into a story everyone wanted to hear, and he loved to make people laugh, often with a perfectly timed comment or a story that somehow got better and more elaborate every time he told it. And if you knew Robbie, you knew the tale of the "shark bite." It was one of many stories he loved to share, and one that became part of the lore of Robbie Muldoon. He had a big personality, an even bigger heart, and a way of lighting up a room simply by being in it.
He loved the simple pleasures of life: a round of golf, watching his Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and spending time at Pops in Nokomis. Robbie was, above all, a person who valued family and friendship. He leaves behind his beloved and devoted wife, Jamie Muldoon; his brothers, John (Valerie), Thomas, and David (Laurie); his niece, Kelly, and nephews Ryan, Eric, Dillon, and Brendan; his beloved dog, Quinny; and many extended family members and dear friends who will remember him with love and affection.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 12, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Farley Funeral Home, 265 Nokomis Avenue South, Venice, FL. A separate memorial service will be held in New York on a later date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Robbie's memory to the Humane Society of Sarasota County at hssc.org.
