Robert Charles Neveu

Robert Charles Neveu Robert C. Neveu, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Venice, Florida on April 29, 2017. Bob is survived by his two children, David of Washington DC and Deborah of Los Angeles. His wife of 53 years, Hazel, passed away in Venice in 2014. Bob was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts to Irene and Van Ness Neveu, and attended North Adams high school. Upon graduation, Bob joined the U.S. Army in 1953 and served tours of duty in Vietnam, Japan, Hawaii, and New York. He achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer W3 working for Army Intelligence. Bob served his country in the Technical Surveillance Countermeasures division at home and abroad, serving in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 in the 525th Intelligence Group. Bob and his beloved bride, Hazel Eckart of Ohio, were married in Hawaii in 1961. Their son, David, was born in Honolulu in 1964. Their daughter, Deborah, was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1966. After moving to Northern Virginia, Bob served at the Pentagon in the Defense Intelligence Agency as a policy advisor. After 20 years, he retired from the armed services and went on to work for DDI in McLean, Virginia as a corporate security officer. In the next phase of his career, Bob became a founder and partner of Overlook Systems Technologies, serving as Vice President and Secretary. Bob was an avid photographer and a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins. He served on the board of directors of the Touchdown Club, and he started his own video production company, Video Memories in the 1980s. Bob and Hazel were residents of Fairfax, Virginia; Kitty Hawk, North Carolina; and finally Venice, Florida upon Bob's retirement in 2001. Bob was an active member of the Venice community and a generous benefactor to several organizations, including the Loveland Center, the Venice Little Theatre, and the Young Marines. A viewing to celebrate Bob's life will be held at Farley Funeral Home in Venice on May 8, 2017, at 7pm. A ceremony and burial service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on May 10, at 11:30am.
