Captain Roger J Braun, United States Army Retired Roger J Braun passed away on December 2, 2016 from acute leukemia at the age of 75. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dr. and Mrs. Julius C. Braun, his brother Richard Julius Braun and Cousin Colonel Warren D. Miller. Roger Is survived by the love of his life Charlotte, nieces Kelly Fenyes and daughter Lauren, Terry King (Texas), and nephew Steve Braun (Florida). He also leaves behind his loving cousins Marguerite Miller, son Thomas and daughter Lydia (Buffalo), Paul Cook and wife Judy (Fort Myers), Marilynn Lewis (Tennessee), and Lois Juron (New York). Captain Braun has a Bachelor's degree from Bucknell University and an MBA from central Michigan University. He served active duty in the Army from 1962-1965 and continued to serve the government through 1968. When he moved to Key West, Florida, he served as Community Development Director for the city of Key West and County of Monroe. During this time he also served as President of Florida's Redevelopment and Housing Officials, President of the Key West Military Affairs Committee, and the host of the Channel 5 Political Pulse program for ten years. He retired after 20 years of serving the public. Came out of retirement to serve as Executive Director of the Florida Aqueduct Authority for three years. For the past ten years, he has resided in North Port, Florida and continued his over 50 years of service to the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Braun was an active member of the North Port Council 7997 and Saint Pedro Assembly 3167. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Knights of Columbus, Veterans Fund, North Port Council 7997 at PO Box 7514, North Port 34287.
