Roman Kebus

Roman Kebus, 76, of Pt. Charlotte FL, passed away suddenly Saturday Nov. 7, 2015. Roman was born in town of Boratijchi in Western Ukraine Feb.5, 1939. He was the son of the late Mychaylo and Anna Kebus. He was predeceased by seven bothers and sisters, survived by one sister Stefania in Ukraine, three children Olha Bednarchyk, and Taras Kebus in Ukraine and stepdaughter Oksana Kveskiri who resides in Chicago, 5 grandchildren ,4 in Ukraine and Oksana Bednarchyk Temnov of North Port and one great grandchild. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his longtime friend Anna Mariani. Roman attended Lviv Medical Institute and practiced medicine for 30 years specializing in gynecology and obstetrics. He came to the U.S. in 1995 after the collapse of the Soviet Union and deteriorating economic conditions in Ukraine. He moved to Florida in 2002, worked for the Sarasota School System retiring this past year. Gentle, kind and soft-spoken, Roman was also an avid reader, loved classical music and his daily 2 hour walks. He loved his adopted country, the United States but always remembered his beloved Ukraine, praying for the day this nation would have peace, prosperity and hope for all of its citizens. Panachyda service will be held on Tuesday, Nov 17, 2015 at 6:00 P.M. at Farley Funeral Home in North Port. Viewing hours till 8:00 P.M. Wednesday 10:00 A.M. Mass for the deceased will be held at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1078 North Biscayne Dr., North Port, FL 34286. Donations in memory of Roman can be made to Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv Ukraine.
