Ronald Wesley Higel

Our beloved Ron passed suddenly at the age of 80 after suffering a stroke on the eve of his return to the U.S. He was a much-loved husband to Susan, devoted father to Kimberley and Meredith and grandfather to Emma, Harrison, Cameron, Grace and Nathan. He was a loving brother to Joyce, Gary and Margaret (deceased) and caring uncle to Steven and Greg, Warren and Paul, Sarah and Rachel, and their families. Ron was a friend to all. A Venice native, Ron graduated from University of Florida and University of Maryland Dental School, served as a Captain in the US Air Force, then returned home to run a successful and progressive dental practice for decades. He served on many boards including Venice Hospital, Venice Yacht Club and the Historical Society. Ron was beloved for his positive energy, tireless work ethic, warmth and ever-present smile, never broader than when surrounded by family and friends. A gathering to celebrate Ron's life will be held at Farley Funeral Home in Venice on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 10:00Am-11:30AM.
