Russell Joseph Layfield

Russell Joseph Layfield Jr. 60, passed away on 7/2/26 after a brief but fierce battle with cancer.

Russell is survived by his adoring wife, Lara R. Layfield (Cotter), daughter, Larissa Brown (Talbot-Layfield) of North Carolina and sister, Karen Lee (Layfield) and her family of Rhode Island. He is predeceased by his parents, Russell Layfield and Alice Layfield (Crofton). 

Russell was born and raised in Warwick, RI and moved to North Kingstown, RI with his wife and daughter where they lived for 28 years before Russell retired and he and his wife moved to Nokomis, FL.

Russell was a highly skilled carpenter and owned his own construction business, Layfield Carpentry Inc., for over 30 years. His meticulous work, integrity, honesty and work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and homeowners and built many life long friendships.

Russell loved the outdoors and was always very active and had a love of the ocean from a young age. Russell loved fresh and salt water fishing and boating throughout his life. Some of his happiest memories were made boating and fishing in Narragansett Bay and Block Island, RI and later in the Gulf of Mexico with friends and family.

Russell will be dearly missed every day.
