Stephen ‘Denny’ Etter, 65, of North Port Florida, formerly of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on January 27, 2012. He was born April 14, 1946 to Joseph and Lillie Etter, who preceded him. He retired from Kokomo School system, where he taught Art and coached football. After moving to North Port, he helped establish the North Port Art Center. He was one of the founders of the North Port Art Center as well as their first President. He worked with the city to coordinate the changes to the building that became the North Port Art Center. He received the Sarasota 2008 Arts Leadership Award along with other awards for his art work. He enjoyed teaching stained glass at the Art Center. He was a graduate of Kokomo High school, and Ball State University. He enjoyed his ‘retirement’ life in Florida, traveling and sports in general.
He is survived by his wife, Jaynee Etter, of North Port Florida; a sister, Jacqueline Etter of Tampa Fl, and Lindell Leach, a brother-in-law in Kokomo, Indiana. Other family members include nieces Darcy Kimmatian, Tina Covington, Julie Houlahan,
Ann Yeakle, a nephew Ary J Infante and a cousin, Sharon Taddio of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Private services for the immediate family will be held in Florida. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Farley Funeral Home in North Port, Florida is handling the arrangements.
