Susan Andrea Davis

Susan Andréa Davis, 83, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026. She was born on January 18, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, to Todd and Margaret B. Harris.

Susan spent her early years in New York State before attending Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa, where she received a degree in Elementary Education. It was there that she met her first husband, David L. Pierce. Together, they had two children, Marcie A. Pierce-Colleary and Robert B. Pierce.

In 1977, Susan married John L. Davis Jr., with whom she shared nearly 50 years of marriage. In 1979, Susan and John moved their family to Florida, where they made their home in both Longwood and Venice.

Susan devoted more than 30 years of her life to education. She was a dedicated and caring teacher, spending much of her career teaching kindergarten. Her love of children and commitment to helping young students learn and grow touched the lives of many families throughout her years in the classroom. She retired after a long and rewarding career in teaching.

Susan was known for her warm and friendly nature. She had an easy smile, a welcoming spirit, and a genuine interest in the people around her. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel comfortable and valued, and she was truly a friend to all. Whether through her work as a teacher, her involvement in her hobbies, or simply through everyday friendships, Susan brought kindness and warmth wherever she went.

Outside of her professional life, Susan had a deep love for her family history and genealogy. She enjoyed researching her family’s roots and preserving the stories and connections of generations past. She was also passionate about basket weaving and was an active member of local basket-weaving clubs. Through both genealogy and basket weaving, Susan found friendships, community, and creative ways to preserve and share what she loved.

Susan will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit, her dedication to her family, her love of learning and history, and her creativity. Most of all, she will be remembered as a warm, welcoming person who made friends easily and left a lasting impression on the many people fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her loving husband, John L. Davis Jr.; her daughter, Marcie A. Pierce-Colleary, and her grandchildren, Caitlin Colleary, Courtney Colleary, and James Thomas Colleary; her son, Robert B. Pierce, and her grandchildren, Ciara Pierce and Robert B. Pierce Jr.; and her brothers, Peter Harris (Nancy) and Ethan Harris (Diane), along with many nieces and nephews.

Susan leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love, family, education, creativity, and friendship. Her warmth, kindness, and friendship will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
