Thelma Floyd Seaburg, age 101, of Venice, FL, formerly of Sarasota, FL, Fairmont, NC , Roanoke Rapids, NC and Jamestown, NY died on December 31, 2014. Thelma was born September 8, 1913 in Wallace, NC to Dovie (Bullock) Stephen Floyd. Thelma graduated Fairmont NC High School, East Caroline State Teacher's College in Greenville, NC and NYSU Fredonia in Fredonia, NY. She taught elementary school in Fairmont and Roanoke Rapid, NC in addition to Jamestown, NY. She married Cornell E. Seaburg on July 1, 1942 in Fairmont, NC after meeting him the year before at the 25th anniversary party of her aunt Maggie and Paul Vittur in Lakewood, NY. Always a southern lady in all facets of her life, never completely losing her southern accent, she always had a smile and loved being with family and friends. She enjoyed playing bridge, most card games, reading and played golf until she was 92 years old. Thelma was members of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Jameston, NY and AAUW, Creche, Venice Duplicate Bridge - still playing at 101. Every night at bedtime she said the Lords Prayer, 23rd Psalm and words of ""In the Garden."" She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cornell on August 14, 1986, brother, Wallace Floyd and sisters Mary Foster Replogle, Elizabeth Mitchell, Louise Lamb and Dorothy Floyd. Survivors include her daughter, Carol S. Hallberg with whom she lived in Jamestown, NY and Venice, FL; son, Stephen (Sandy) Seaburg of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren: Dr. Theodore (Heather) Hallberg of Virginia Beach, VA, Ernest (Elizabeth) Seaburg Copperas of Cove, TX, Trisha (Eric) Collins of Grand Junction, CO; 10 great grandchildren: Todd, Nathan, Bryce Hallberg of Virginia Beach, VA, Jessica, Damien, Jacob and Rebecca Seaburg of Copperas Cove, TX, Sierra, Tianna and Madison Collins of Grand Junction, CO; nieces: Joan, Beth (Lynn) Floyd of Fairmont, NC, Patricia (Larry) Snider of Statesville, NC; nephews: Gene (Wanda) Lamb of Kodak, TN and Jack Floyd of Charlotte, NC. Visitation will be held from 2-3 PM with Funeral Service at 3 PM, Saturday, January 3rd at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. A Memorial Service and interment will be held at a later date in Jamestown. Memorial Donations may be made to Tidewell Hospicel, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
