Thomas Michael Lydon, age 97, died on November 2, 2013was born in Philadelphia on Feb. 13, 1916. He served in the South Pacific in World World II becoming a Warrant Officer in the Army. After the war he studied at the University of Pennsylvania on the GI Bill. He married his devoted wife, Francis McHugh, in 1948, and in 1951 they went to Toronto to open a Canadian subsidiary of his employer in the Finance and Leasing Industry. There he became a devoted family man with four children. The family returned to the Philadelphia area in 1971. He and his loving wife retired to Florida in 1980 where they both enjoyed dancing 3 times a week until her death. Tom was an avid golfer and had two hole-in-ones in his lifetime, the last when he was 87 years old. He was fortunate to have enjoyed good health until almost the very end of his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and American Legion. His wife preceded him in death in 1994 as did his eldest son, Thomas Jr, in 2009. He is survived by his loving children, Rev. John Lydon OSA, Barbara (Roger) Furey and Patricia Lydon, and daughter-in-law, Eileen Lydon, and four grandchildren, Caitlin, Meghan, Colleen and Marisa. A man of deep Catholic faith, a mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi parish, Placida Rd, Grove City on Friday, Nov 8th at 10:30 AM. He will be interred in ArlingtonNationalCemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Augustinian Peruvian Missions, 214 Ashwood Rd.Villanova, Pa19085.
