Thomas Marvin Russow, age 80, of Venice, FL died on August 12, 2014. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 26, 1934. Tom retired as an International Vice President of the UFCW Union in Baltimore, MD in 1994 after 40 years with them. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Tom was married to the love of his life, Nell, for nearly 59 years. They moved to Sarasota 20 years ago. He was a champion of the labor movement and fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America. His hard work and dedication touched countless lives. After retiring he continued his efforts to raise funding for research to find a cure for leukemia and lymphoma. Most of all he enjoyed playing cards, golfing, going on cruises and spending time with his cherished family and friends.
Surviving family members include his wife, Reba Nell Russow of Venice; sons Marvin (Vicki) of Louisville, KY, Mark (Ellen) of Ashburn, VA, Matthew (Noelle) of North East, MD, and Michael (Theresa) of Sparks, NV; daughter Diana Russow-Mettille of Venice, FL; sister Jacqueline Russow of Venice, FL and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Jacaranda Trace 3rd Floor Auditorium, 3600 William Penn Way, Venice on Saturday, August 16th at 11 AM. Memorial donations are requested in Tom's name to the Leukemia Society, c/o UFCW Local 27, 21 West Road, Towson, MD 21204.
