Vivienne C. Stouppe

Vivienne Crissey Stouppe of Venice died peacefully on Monday, March 17th at Venice Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by her two loving children and close family members. Born Vivienne Crissey Gramling on July 6, 1925, she grew up in Southfork, PA, graduated from Southfork High School, and majored in fashion illustration at Drexel University. Vivienne's lifelong love of dancing was inspired by her dance instructor, Mr. Gene Kelly, who ran a dance studio in Johnstown, PA just prior to his discovery and rise to stardom. Her 65 year marriage to James J. Stouppe began September 6, 1947 and lasted until May 2012 when Mr. Stouppe passed away. Over the years, Vivienne and James traveled the world together, including the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia, France, Central Europe, Russia, China, Japan, Hawaii, Alaska, and throughout the continental USA. Vivienne and James were Florida residents for the last 30 years of their lives together, residing first in Spanish Wells and later moving to Venice where they built their retirement home in April 1994. Vivienne was an avid golfer and earned the title of Women's Handicap Club Champion in 2001, at age 75. Vivienne was a member of the order of Eastern Star and the League of Women Voters, and belonged to Christ United Methodist Church in Venice. Vivienne was the loving mother of two children: James Jay Stouppe of Kansas City, MO and Vivienne Rae Workman of Austin Texas. She was the beloved grandmother of four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on Thursday, March 20th at 9:30 AM. The procession to the cemetery will leave Farley Funeral Home, 265 S. Nokomis Ave., Venice at 8:30 AM.
