Walter Sagliocco, 88, of Venice, FL entered into eternal peace at 9:30 AM, June 28, 2015 at the Venice Regional Bayfront Hospital. Walter was born October 8, 1926 in Roccadaspide, Salerno, Italy to Teresina (Moscati) and Saverio Sagliocco. After graduating Military Academy, Walter entered the Comando Generale Arma Carabinieri on April 27, 1946. He attained the position of Chief of Police working in various regions of Sicily and left the Carabinieri on October 9, 1953. Walter immigrated to Montreal, Canada and worked as a men's designer suit cutter. He married the love of his life, Mildred Constance (DiBernardo) on December 2, 1956 in Bayonne, NJ, where they lived until they retired to Golden Beach, Venice, FL in 1989. From 1957-1961, he worked at the Englander Mattress Company, from 1961-1976, he worked at the Broadway National Bank, achieving the position of Head Commercial Teller and then became an avid investor. Walter loved to sing and dance to Italian songs, was a wonderful Mediterranean cook and enjoyed having pet dogs and raising song birds from around the world. He was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus, Star of the Sea Council, No. 371 in Bayonne. Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred on May, 28, 1993, his brother, Giulio and his sister, Iole. Survivors include his only child, Leila Teresina (husband, Nick) Chloros, two granddaughters: Liana Nicole and Teraisa Stella, all of Webster, NY; sister, Elsa Proscino of Philadelphia, PA; sister-in-law, Addy DiBernardo of Tinton Falls, NJ; 7 nieces and 7 nephews. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Wednesday, July 1 at Farley Funeral Home in Venice, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 AM, Thursday, July 2 at Epiphany Cathedral. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, NY. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
