William G Howland,73, passed away June 20, 2026. Bill and his wife Maleia were married 52 years. Their story started in Nichols, NY where they grew up, married and built their lives together. Bill was a natural problem solver with strong work ethics. He started Howland’s Tractor Repair and Howland Mobile Home Park in Nichols before moving to sunny Englewood, Florida in 1992. He did not slow down when he moved. He worked for Franz Tractor in Bradenton, FL. Many knew him as a great mechanic and salesman. His coworkers and customers became his friends. They had nicknames like Big Dog, Buddy and Sunshine due to his cheerful spirit. He is survived by many loved ones who will miss him dearly. He leaves behind his wife Maleia Richardson Howland, his son William T, his daughter Candida Whitmore. He is also survived by his bothers Harry and Dan Howland, and sisters Donna Schwenk and Carol Emms, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. His legacy also lives on through his grandchildren William and Zachary Howland, Hailey and Grayson Whitmore. He is predeceased by his parents Harry and Doris Howland and his in-laws Emerson Richardson, Gladys & Philip Stiness. He leaves behind a legacy built on hard work, family, and a lifetime of shared love. Above all else, Bill was a man who ensured that everyone around him was always taken care of, putting the needs of his family first.
