William H. Madden

William H. Madden, 74, of Venice, Fl. died Friday, November 3, 2017. He was born in Newark, New Jersey on February 12, 1943 to Harvey and Pauline Madden (nee Choynske). He lived in Venice for 45 years. He worked for Bell Telephone of New Jersey, and later for General Telephone/Verizon Florida. He was also a certified machinist, police officer of New Jersey, and a firefighter at Venice Fire Department. In his ‘retirement,’ he worked for the Sarasota County Elections Office and the Venice Y.M.C.A. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 9924 of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Venice. In his spare time, he also enjoyed playing softball in the Men’s league, and later became renowned for his ‘passionate’ coaching skills in the Miss Venice Fastpitch Softball league, where, in 2001, he led the 12-and-under Minor All Stars to the championships. Survivors include his daughter, Patricia A. (Kevin) Clipse of Venice; William J. (Sophia) Madden of Bradenton; daughter, Kathleen E. (David) Jones of Brooksville, Fl. Grandchildren, Megan N. Clipse and Kevin Michael Clipse; David Jones, Lauren Jones, and Brenden Jones; sister, Ann Bauer of Brick, New Jersey; Eileen Madden, Winter Springs, Fl.; brothers Michael Madden, FL; Timothy Madden of Tampa, FL; Thomas Madden of Enterprise, Mississippi. He is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his wife, Maureen M. Madden and his brother, Kevin Madden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Venice. Following interment at Venice Memorial Gardens, a lunch will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Center.
