Allen Reed Lewis

Allen Reed Lewis, 73, of Nampa, Idaho, passes away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026.

Allen was born in Brigham City, Utah, on October 11th, 1952, to Earle Reed Lewis and Bernice Betty Hamson.

Allen did not attend traditional school, but he received private lessons from Mr. Les Darrington. He later attended American Folk Training School.

After finishing school, Allen began working with his mother at the Red Baron Motel. He did various jobs around the grounds and helped keep the rooms clean. He later attended the L.I.N.C. Center, where he participated in various programs and employment opportunities.

In 2004, Allen went to work with his sister Karen as a camp host at Lewis and Clark Campground in Logan Canyon. He took great pride in his work and worked hard to keep the campground in top shape for all the guests.

After his mother passed away in 2012, Allen moved to Caldwell, Idaho, with his sisters so he could be closer to his niece and her family.

Allen had many things he enjoyed, but one of his favorite pastimes was listening to his transistor radio. He would carry it with him as he walked all over Brigham City. Because of this, he became known around town as “the Radio Man”. Allen would tell anyone he met that he wanted them to play the radio and have a good time.

Allen loved to keep busy and was always asking if there was anything he could help with. When he was working, he carried a pocketknife and a tape measure with him because he wanted to be just like Dad.

He loved camping and fishing with his family, riding his four-wheeler in the mountains, cookouts, and family gatherings. He was always asking when the next cookout was going to be.

Allen loved his pets and took great care of them. Throughout his life, he had many cats and dogs, but his favorite best friend was Mikey, a big black-and-white Border Collie mix. Allen loved sharing his hats with Mikey and would always give Mikey a few bites of his food at mealtime.

Allen loved his family and was always asking how everyone was doing. He would walk down to Grandma Hamson’s house to see if she needed help or simply to sit with her, have a Coke, and visit.

One time, Allen rode his bicycle all the way to Corrine to visit the Walker family. He also loved talking about going fishing with his cousin Betty. Betty was always telling Allen not to fall in the water. In the end, it was Betty who fell in the water, and Allen was there to help her out.

When Allen was in Caldwell, he would often go over to Ruthann’s house to sit and talk or help her with whatever task needed to be done.

Allen was always happy and friendly towards others. He would say hi, shake your hand, and sometimes joke around with you. He had a way of making people feel welcome and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Allen will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of family, his love of animals, his transistor radio, and his willingness to help anyone who needed him. He touched the lives of many people in his own special way and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents and a grandniece Isabella.

The family wants to thank the staff at Arrow of Idaho and St. Lukes Hospice for their care and kindness.

Allen, keep that radio playing and have a good time. You will always be loved and never forgotten.

A viewing for friends and family will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints [420 S 800 W  Brigham City, UT 84302].  Funeral services will start at 10:00 AM; interment will follow at Brigham City Cemetery.  Services are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, Idaho.
