Barbara C. Russell

Oct 23, 1946 — Jul 20, 2026

Barbara C. Russell passed away on July 20th at the age of 79.

Born on October 23, 1946, in Moscow, Idaho, Barbara devoted her career to education. She taught in Alaska, Indiana, New York, and Idaho before becoming a school administrator. She served in leadership roles with the Nampa School District and the Parma School District, where she was committed to supporting students, teachers, and schools throughout her career.

Outside of work, Barbara enjoyed crocheting, cooking, reading, and camping. She appreciated time spent outdoors and took pride in creating things by hand and sharing meals with family and friends. In her later years, Barbara faced dementia with quiet strength and resilience. Although the disease gradually changed many aspects of her life, the love and support of her family remained constant. They are grateful for the compassionate care she received and will remember her for the full life she lived rather than the illness she endured.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Megan (Jeff) in Hammett, Idaho and Kristie (Kevin)in Parma, Idaho, and her seven grandchildren: Adrie and Tucker (Megan), Camille, Aiden, Hailey, Tyler, and Bryant (Kristie). She was preceded in death by parents Kathryn and Gerald Chapman and her sister Gail.

Barbara will be remembered for her dedication to education, her practical nature, and the care she showed to her family and those whose lives she touched.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Gerald E. Chapman Memorial Entomology Scholarship Endowment at the University of Idaho Foundation, 875 Perimeter Dr. MS 3143 Moscow, ID 83844.
