Carol Jean Ligas

Carol Jean Ligas (Clifford, Thornsberry), 84, of Nampa, Idaho, entered eternal rest on August 31st, 2026, peacefully and surrounded by loved ones. She will be remembered as a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. She loved God and loved talking about his greatness.

Carol was born December 30th, 1941, to Herman “Frank” and Stella Thornsberry in Buhl, Idaho. She was the youngest of 7 children. She married Dallis Clifford on May 29th, 1959, and they had two daughters. After Dallis’s sudden passing in November of ’88, she eventually remarried “Pete” Ligas and together they watched the growth of the family with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pete passed in March of 2019, and Carol stayed close with all her family- up until her final moments. She was the type of mother or grandmother that would send you a card for every birthday or anniversary, and if she didn’t think she sent it she would call to make sure you got it. She would go out of her way to make sure you got her last dollar if you needed it, she was one of the most selfless people you would have the honor of knowing.

Carol is survived by her one living sibling, Evelyn Hartwig of Caldwell, Idaho, daughters Angela Clifford-Burr (Bruce) of Ketchikan, Alaska, Brenda Buhler (Ryan) of Caldwell, Idaho, 6 grandchildren, Shaun Arbaugh, Brian Arbaugh, Brittanie Buler, Adrianna Ferdinand (Dustin), Brent Burr (Anna), Dallis Buhler (Ciera) and 17 great-grandchildren, Abigail, Kaedyn, Braden, Kai, Jhett, Korbyn, Gauge, Kimber, Haylie, Kamryn, Owen, Carter, Keagenne, McKynlee, Adeline, Lane and Odin. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Stella Thornsberry, her brothers, Floyd Wallick-Thornsberry and Dale Thornsberry, her sisters, Doris Thornsberry, Donna Rendla, Lucille Ingman, Her husbands Dallis Clifford and Pete Ligas, and granddaughter Stephanie Sena (Cisco).

A celebration of life will be held on October 17th, 2026, at noon at Hillcrest Cemetery in Caldwell, Idaho. All who knew and loved Carol are invited to come join our family in sharing loved and happy moments. In lieu of flowers we would prefer donations to fund breast cancer research as Carol was a survivor and her granddaughter lost her battle to the same disease.
