Dennis Heck

Apr 2, 1949 — Aug 2, 2026

Dennis Lynn Heck was born April 2nd 1949 to Robert John Heck (Red Heck) & June Wynona Dodge Heck. He was the youngest of 4 boys, Tommy, Al, David and Dennis.

Dennis attended Caldwell schools up to Graduation in 1968. He was an athlete, playing Football and Baseball until an ankle injury stopped him from competing. Dennis never cared for School. He used words like boring to describe his time in the classroom. At age 14 he bought his 1st car and was 1 of 3 people in Caldwell who drove to school, starting in Jr. High! Dennis attended one semester at Ricks College in Rexburg Idaho, but dropped out claiming he found the love of his life and he was going to marry her! He met Christine Everett about a year earlier and was ready to start their 57 year long life together. Dennis and Chris met on a blind date set up by mutual friends he knew that night he was gonna marry her and even went home and told his mom “ I just met the woman I am going to marry” Little did he know Chris would tell him no not once but twice as she was a still a senior In High School! But he did not give up and finally she said Yes, and we are all grateful that she did!

After 6 years of marriage they welcomed their 1st daughter Denise followed by another, and another, and ANOTHER!! 4 GIRLS! Denise, Becky, Briget, and Jessica. If you ask Dennis and Chris though they would tell you that they had 5 daughters as they raised their niece Lesa.

Dennis started working from an early age, helping around his parents business called the Hill Top Market in Caldwell. In Jr high and High School he worked at a grocery store on Canyon Hill. He had many different Businesses the first being Hecks Thrifty sales and also sold and set up Mobil Homes. In 1971 he started selling Fireworks with Chris in a Tent where the Yellow Building is today. He realized he could make a lot of money and expanded the business to up to 28 stands around Idaho. Before he built the Building in 1980 he bought fur out of an old shed behind his house on Chucker Lane in Caldwell. By Buying and Selling Fur and Trapping supplies in the winter months and Selling Fireworks in the Summer months he had a year round business. But that just wasn’t enough, so they bought a farm and started farming and since he never had any boys to help Denise and Becky were his “hired hands” and moved wheel lines and pipe by hand! Over the years he started many different business ventures. At one point he had a used car lot where he would buy the cheapest cars he could find at the auction and sell them and even sold Christmas trees at Rocky Mountain. He was always thinking ahead and one of his favorite things to say was “you got to spend money to make money” and boy did he do just that! One of his biggest dreams was to build a new Fireworks Super Store, and he got to see that dream come true when Jake and Jessi finished construction in December of 2025 and he made sure he didn’t miss the 1st Fourth of July in the brand new Super Store. He was defiantly a wheeler and dealer and the King when it came to yard selling, he could spot those signs a mile a way!

In his retirement years he enjoyed traveling with Chris and their dog Huckleberry which included spending their winters at their home in Yuma AZ. He loved gardening and spent most of his time in his yard growing and transplanting and digging up and moving flowers! He LOVED flowers!

Dennis was a family man and his family meant everything to him, he loved having family get togethers and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
