Edward Joseph Martinez

Jun 22, 1959 — Mar 16, 2026

A lifetime mechanic with a heart for helping others, Edward Joseph Martinez passed away peacefully in his home in Caldwell, Idaho on March 16, 2026, at the age of 66.

Edward was born on June 22, 1959, in Oceanside, California, and dedicated his career to working as a mechanic which was a craft he practiced throughout his entire life. When he wasn’t working with his hands, he could be found on the golf course, out camping and fishing, tending to his yard, or, most importantly, spending time with the family he loved so dearly.

He is survived by his wife Cindy Martinez; his former wife Tina Meo; his father Inez Martinez; his brother Lenny Martinez; his sister Mercy (David) Herstad; his brother-in-law Robert Eagle; his sisters-in-law Cathy (Vic) Morgan, Claudia (Dennis) Moberly, Debbie (Virgil) O’Dell, and Carol (John) Bernhard. He is also survived by his sons Jason (Steffanie) Martinez, Joshua (Amber) Martinez, Alexander (Shilo) Martinez, Samuel (Rachael) Martinez, Gabriel Martinez, and Greg Phillips as well as his daughter Jeannie Phillips (Thad Downs), several nieces and nephews, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his mother Carmen Martinez, his former wife Barbara Martinez, his mother-in-law Allene Evans, and brother-in-law Curt Naeve.

Special thanks to care provider Cindy Barels for her kindness and dedication.

Edward will be remembered for a smile that instantly turned everyone into friends, and as a man who found joy in the simple things such as a good round of golf, time with loved ones, and lending a hand to anyone who needed it.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Caldwell United Methodist Church, 824 E. Logan Street in Caldwell. Arrangements are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. (208) 459-0833
