Gregory Brown

Gregory “Gregg” Brown peacefully passed away on July 25, 2026. A proud military veteran, visionary banker, and dedicated youth champion, Gregg left a lasting legacy of leadership, faith, and generosity. Throughout his journey, he faced various forms of cancer with courage and an enduring spirit.

Raised by his grandmother, Mary Frances Turner Brown, in Coatesville, PA, Gregg developed a legendary work ethic early in life. He graduated from Bible School in 1966 and spent his youth singing across the East Coast with gospel groups. Following high school, he honorably served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970 at Mountain Home Air Force Base, earning two decorations. He later graduated from Boise State University in 1973 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Advertising.

Gregg’s professional banking career was remarkable. Joining First Security Bank in 1974, he rose rapidly to become Vice President and Manager of 4 branches. After retiring in 2002, he successfully founded and operated Solutions, a business and financial consulting firm.

Deeply passionate about uplifting the next generation, Gregg dedicated 14 years to volunteering as a motivational school speaker—an impact recognized by Caldwell Area Schools with a special medal of honor. A pillar of his community, he served as a Mason, an Elk, a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, and a board member for both the American Red Cross and Albertson College of Idaho. Gregg’s generosity also reached students at the Unlimited Dreams Christian Learning Center in Laurel, Mississippi, whom he helped feed and clothe. In a powerful final act of legacy, he donated $550,000 across Cheyney University, Tuskegee University, and Morehouse College, forever honoring him and his family's commitment to education.

Beyond his career, Gregg was an excellent cook who loved entertaining, jazz, fishing, hunting, golfing, and skiing. He lived by a simple code: lead from the front, bring joy, and mentor others.

Gregg is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, siblings, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ashby and Grace Brown, ten siblings, and 2 grandchildren.

His final reminder to us remains: “I’ve never heard anyone on their deathbed say they wished they had worked more.”

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. MDT at the College of Idaho, located at 2112 Cleveland Boulevard, Caldwell, Idaho. The party will take place in the Simplot–Helsinger Room (Building 5).
