Juanita Hazel Sibert

Juanita Hazel Sibert, lovingly known to many as “Happy,” passed peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the remarkable age of 109. She lived a long and extraordinary life defined by faith, resilience, laughter, and deep devotion to her family.

Juanita was born on March 7, 1917, in Marsland, Nebraska, to John Edward Marshall and Hazel Squibb Marshall. She grew up as a hardworking farm girl near Fort Robinson and Crawford, Nebraska, where she learned the values that guided her life—faith in God, dedication to family, humility, and perseverance.

On April 8, 1936, Juanita married Andrew Sherman Sibert, the love of her life. Together, they shared more than 56 years of marriage and built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and deep devotion to family. Their partnership was filled with decades of shared memories, challenges, laughter, and the joy of raising their children.

In October of 1946, the Sibert family moved west to Caldwell, Idaho, where Juanita spent most of her life. Andrew passed away in 1992, but the love and life they built together continued to shape the generations of family that followed.

Throughout the years, Juanita worked hard to support her family, holding positions with the J.R. Simplot Company, Glen L. Evans Fish Fly, Idaho Department Store, and J.C. Penney, where she eventually retired. Yet her greatest role was always as the heart of her family. Her home was known as a welcoming place where no one left hungry, and everyone was greeted warmly with a hug and a fresh pot of coffee.

Juanita was known for her strong faith, quick wit, and joyful spirit. She loved reading, playing cards, watching Boise State football, sharing stories from decades past, and cooking meals that brought family together. Her famous Texas sheet cake and the warmth of her kitchen remain cherished memories to those who knew her.

Even well into her later years, Juanita remained sharp-minded, independent, and full of humor. She lived independently until late in her 108th year and continued to bring joy to those around her with her laughter and welcoming nature.

Juanita was the proud matriarch of a large and loving family. She is survived by her four children and their families: Don Gene Sibert, who preceded her in death, and his wife, Betty; Sharon Rae Talley; Darrell Dean Sibert and his wife, Viki; and Andy Junior Sibert and his wife, Juanita. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and twenty great-great-grandchildren, whose lives were shaped by her love, strength, and example. Her family now spans generations from Caldwell, Idaho, to the Fort Bridger Valley of Wyoming.

In accordance with her wishes, Juanita will be cremated and did not wish to have a traditional funeral service. Instead, family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of her life at Faith Journey Church, 23057 Old Hwy 30, Caldwell, Idaho, on Saturday, March 28, at 2 p.m.

Juanita’s life reminds us that love, faith, and kindness are the true measures of a life well lived. Though she has left this world, her laughter, wisdom, and enduring love will live on through the generations of family she helped shape. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
