Lura Corrine Jemmett

Lura Corrine Jemmett, a woman of quiet strength, deep independence, and boundless creativity, passed away surrounded by love. Born on April 20, 1944, Lura lived a rich and varied life that led her through Nyssa, Oregon; Notus; Oklahoma; and ultimately Nampa, each place shaping her story in meaningful ways.

Lura was gifted with both skill and curiosity, and her working life reflected that. Over the years she served as a cosmetologist, mortician, secretary, dog groomer, cake decorator, and even worked in fast food and Avon sales—roles that allowed her to serve others, work with her hands, and continue learning new things. No matter what she did, she brought dedication, precision, and her own quiet sense of pride.

Faith and service were central to Lura’s life. She was an active member of her sorority, spent countless hours in service work, and deeply valued the connections she made through visiting teaching. Her willingness to help others was steady and sincere.

Outside of work and service, Lura felt most at peace in nature and in the simple joys of life. She loved yard work, gardening, trips to the mountains, long road trips, rock hunting, and riding motorcycles. These adventures spoke to her independent spirit and her love of open spaces. She cherished solitude, finding comfort in quiet moments and the freedom to follow her own path.

Lura was also a talented creator. She expressed her artistic side through crocheting, especially making afghans,  pot holders, and slippers gifting many of her handmade treasures to family, friends, and community members.

To those who knew her, Lura was steady, private, thoughtful, and uniquely herself. She lived life on her own terms—strong, capable, and unafraid to walk her own road. Her family and friends will remember her for her independence, her creativity, and her grounded love for nature and simple beauty.

Lura leaves behind a legacy stitched into every afghan she crocheted, every garden she tended, and every life she touched with quiet kindness. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A viewing for friends and family will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 9:00-11:00am at Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00am.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell.
