Michael Richard Rose

Michael Richard Rose, aged 56, passed away on July 28, 2026, in Cascade, Idaho, following a courageous battle with throat cancer.

Born on July 31, 1969, in Lynnwood, California, to Richard and Linda (Balko) Rose, Michael moved with his family to Parma, Idaho, in 1972. He graduated from Parma High School in 1987 and served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he returned to Jordan Valley. He later wed Sara Janes, and to this union, David and Rachel were born, joining Jessica and Eli.

A man of distinct dedication, Michael approached every endeavor to the absolute best of his ability. His professional life included a career with the Union Pacific Railroad, carpentry, and construction, where he found great fulfillment in building bridges. He also spent many years working on his parents’ ranch, sharing his love for the land by teaching his children how to ride horses and drive. Above all else, Michael loved his children with all of his heart.

Throughout his recent health battles, Michael remained a pillar of encouragement to those around him. His deep, unwavering faith was evident to all, during his treatments, he was frequently found listening to praise music, tears streaming down his face, with his hands raised in worship.

Michael began journaling during his illness, leaving behind profound testaments to his resilience and faith. In his own words, he noted: “Cancer is not great, chemo is no fun, pneumonia should be avoided at all costs, lung surgery by the world’s greatest surgeon is a breeze, having God in my corner makes it all a walk in the park!” He also wrote: “No questions remain, grace guides me through trials, cloaking me in perfection, your widespread arms enveloping me with a salvation that covers all. Your light shines, allowing my feet to trod all of creation fearlessly!”

Michael’s legacy of hard work, fierce love for his family, and profound faith will be forever cherished by his loved ones.

He is survived by his children: David and Alice Rose, Rachel Rose, and stepchildren: Jessica and Eli Murphy; mother, Linda (Balko) and Mike Hanley; father, Richard and Theresa Rose; sister, Michelle and Scott Osmus; brother, Martin and Trish Rose; brother, Eric Rose; stepsister, Martha and John Corrigan; stepbrother, Ike and Shirley Hanley; nieces and nephews: Kolton and Corey Silva-Shields, Samantha Shields, Jaegar and Juliette Rose, Justine (Rose) and Derek Pfost, Cassidy and Morgan Corrigan, Drew, Gracie, and Finley Hanley; great nephew, Steele Shields; great nieces: Kinsley Pfost, Maci, and Mila Corrigan; and his expected great niece, Esther Rose, due September 2026.

Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, Carroll and Elaine (Hall) Balko, Frank and Clara (Gularte) Rose, and stepdad, Lyle Holverson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 10:30 am at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd. in Caldwell. A private interment will be held at a later time. Services are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. (208) 459-0833
