Ralph Charles Smith

Jun 20, 1951 — Sep 3, 2026

Ralph Charles Smith, 75, passed away on September 3, 2026, in Caldwell, Idaho. He was born on June 20, 1951, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Mel B. Smith and Katherine Elliot Smith.

Ralph moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, as a child, where he lived until he was 24. He then moved to Salinas, California, followed by Yucaipa, California, and eventually returned to Las Vegas before making his home in Caldwell, Idaho.

On April 3, 1976, Ralph married his beloved wife, Carol Ann. Together they shared 50 years of marriage, building a family and a life filled with love, faith, hard work, and memories that will be cherished forever.

Ralph was a carpenter by trade and took great pride in working with his hands. He specialized in custom cabinets and door hanging. His most meaningful projects were the gifts he made for his family. His handmade creations were a reflection of his love and will remain treasured reminders of him.

Ralph also had a love of music. He played both the guitar and the trombone and enjoyed the joy that music brought into his life.

Above all, Ralph loved Jesus. In June 1973, he came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His faith was an important part of who he was, and his family takes comfort in knowing that he is now home with his Savior.

Ralph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Jennifer Louise Campbell (Dean), Michael Oliver Smith (Nicole), and Stephanie Anna Cochran (Jim).

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Kurtis Wesley Cochran, Ariel Elizabeth Thongsaly, Kira M’lynn Smith, Karina Hope Schutzenhofer, Karah Joy Wonders, Karissa Charity Cochran, Baliee Ann Smith, Cooper Dean Campbell, and Sophia Grace Campbell.

Ralph was blessed with great-grandchildren, including Ren, Kaito, Brooks, Gerald, Blake, Wesley, Asher, and Baker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mel B. Smith and Katherine Elliot Smith, and his siblings, Melinda Varden and Mel Smith.

He is survived by his siblings Brady Smith, Leslie Smith, and Christina Albright, along with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends.

Ralph's life was one of faith, family, hard work, creativity, and love. He leaves behind more than the things he built with his hands. He leaves behind a family who carries his love, his memories, and the legacy of his faith with them.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by those blessed to call him husband, Dad, Grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, and friend.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21
