Steven Bradley Sanders Sr.

Steven Bradley Sanders Sr., 85, passed away on July 27, 2026, surrounded by his children and grandson, Tyler.

Steve was born on January 26, 1941, near Spur Lake, New Mexico, to Willie and Vida Sanders. He grew up with his twin brother, Samuel, and siblings William, Owren, and Lillie. From an early age, he developed a lifelong love of the outdoors, spending his free time hunting, fishing, and exploring the hills of New Mexico.

After working for the U.S. Forest Service, Steve proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1965 as a jet engine mechanic. He later worked for many years in the copper mines of Arizona and the gold mines of Nevada before retiring to Melba, Idaho.

Steve was married to Rhonda Rae in 1966, with whom he had three children: Steven Jr., Deanna Lynn, and Jason Ray. He later married Mary Ruth Sanders in 1999.

Known for his strong work ethic and resourcefulness, Steve was also a skilled taxidermist and woodworker. More than anything, he cherished time spent with family while camping, hunting, fishing, exploring the outdoors, and playing cards. His adventurous spirit and love of nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Steve is survived by his children; grandchildren Marcus, Skye, Jessica, Troy, Tyler, Chloe, Madison, TJ, Olena, and Makayla; and great-granddaughter Amina.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his quiet strength, generosity, and enduring love for his family and the outdoors.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 10:00 am at Pioneer Cemetery Given Hot Springs, Melba, Idaho.
