Vonda Irene Frye

Dec 6, 1947 — Jul 12, 2026

Vonda Irene Frye of Homedale, Idaho passed away surrounded by her family at Saint Luke’s Memorial Hospital at 1:11 pm on July 12, 2026 after a long battle with COPD and Emphysema.

She was born in Tyronza, Arkansas in 1947 to Ben and Mae Craig. In 1957 at 8 years old she would meet her husband Joseph Frye at a bean camp in Wilder, Idaho. They would remain married for 41 years and raise a family. She gave birth to 4 children in her lifetime. Her three daughters are Sherry Davis (Jimmy) of Homedale, ID, Roxane Dameron (Joel) of Nampa, ID and Denice Sommer of Nampa, ID. She had one son Joseph Frye II (Jessica) of Genesee, ID. She is survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, along with her sister Mary Scott of Caldwell, ID. She’s proceeded in death by her father Ben Craig, mother Mae Craig, sister Louise Frye and brothers Norman and Clinton Craig.

While raising her family in Texas and Idaho as a young woman Vonda took pride in her work as a Certified Nursing Assistant and felt accomplishment in helping others. Completing her GED was a huge accomplishment in her life that she was so proud of. Most mornings you could find her with a nice hot cup of black coffee and an old western playing on her TV while in her blue recliner she loved.

Vonda was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, and a brave woman who beat Lung Cancer twice and fought lung disease for many years. She is a true example of what it is like to be a strong woman who kept going no matter how rough the circumstances got, while holding out hope for the future.

Whether it was hosting Thanksgiving dinner for her family, or having a warm comforting environment for her loved ones, Vonda’s place was always where her family gathered. Vonda is going to be missed dearly by her friends and family who cherished her presence and company.
