Wilford Darcy Maag

In loving memory of Wilford Darcy Maag, who passed away on August 21, 2026, after a courageous battle, from a sudden heart attack. Born on July 24, 1958, in the charming town of American Falls, Idaho, Darcy lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedication. Darcy was the cherished son of Wilford Neal Maag and Betty Eileen Maag, both of whom predeceased him. He is survived by his beloved son, Jordan Maag, and Jordan’s wife, Ashley, who rewarded him with two wonderful grandchildren, Urban and Rowdy. Darcy was also a devoted brother to Terry and Curby Maag.

He was preceded in death by his dear daughter, Dana, in the year 2000. Also predeceased were his sister, Nic'Olette, and his brother, Randy. After moving to the Boise area, Darcy married Joan Andersen. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared countless memories.

Darcy's educational journey saw him graduate from Pocatello High School, paving the way for a career that spanned various industries. Initially working as a self-employed door installer and contractor. He later ventured into the appraisal industry. After working in Pocatello for several years, he moved to Treasure Valley, where he apprenticed under Lloyd Schwisow eventually purchasing his company and naming it Highland Appraisal. His entrepreneurial spirit was evident as he employed family members, including his nephew, Dallas Maag, who has since worked alongside him for many years. A visionary in the appraisal industry, Darcy was known for his pioneering use of technology, adopting one of the first computer programs, Proval, to enhance his work.

His passion for innovation was matched only by his love for flying. A licensed pilot before the age of thirty, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by constructing his own hangar in Caldwell, Idaho, where he also based his appraisal business. Darcy was an individualist, known for his unique perceptions and creative spirit. While residing on the Neeley acreage in American Falls, he was only four years old when he helped saddle break a horse, bravely getting back on after being bucked off in a plowed field. His ability to coin neologisms was just one of the many ways he expressed his vibrant personality, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.

An all-day celebration of Wilford's life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at The Red Barn Hangar, located at 4403 Airport Way, Caldwell Airport. Family, friends, and all who were touched by his presence are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable man.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Darcy's spirit and enduring legacy. Darcy's journey may have ended, but the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
