Henry Nelson

Henry Nelson, age 79, of Tampa, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026, at The Bristol at Tampa Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Henry was born on March 1, 1947, in Seffner, Florida, to the late John and Callie (Bell) Nelson. He was one of seven children.

Henry proudly served his country with the United States Army, completing two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Upon his return home, he married the love of his life, Alice B. (Weiland) Nelson. Together, they built a loving family, and Henry was a devoted husband and father.

Henry worked as a security guard and took great pride in providing for his family. In his free time, he enjoyed drawing, painting, cooking, and fishing. Above all, Henry cherished time spent with his family and loved creating lasting memories with those he loved.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice; three children, Bill Nelson, Joan (Ozzie) Williams, and Peter (Sarina) Nelson; two grandchildren, Josiah and Jozel Williams; two siblings, Horace Nelson and Jimmy (Deborah) Nelson; his aunt, Naomi; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by four siblings.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Florida Mortuary Funeral and Cremation Service, 4601 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa, FL 33603.

Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, where full military honors will be conducted.
