It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Joan Catherine Coleman, age 88, of Tampa, Florida on Saturday March 14th 2026. Joan was born November 5th 1937 in Milwaukee Wisconsin, grew up, and lived there for many years. Joan married and had 3 children before moving to Birmingham Michigan in1969. While living in Michigan, Joan became a Nurse and worked in many of the Detroit area hospitals. Joan moved to Tampa Florida in 1979, where she met and married Jimmy Coleman in 1982. Joan enjoyed the remainder of her life in the Tampa area and caring for others in the nursing profession until eventually retiring at age 70.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Helen Pochert, sister Betty, brother Art, husband Jimmy Coleman, daughter Eileen Hood and step daughter Janet Peterman. Joan’s surviving son, Pat Sullivan and daughter, Erin Behers, currently live in the Tampa Bay area. Both of Joans grandsons, Ben and Brett Behers, have followed in Joans footsteps and have exciting careers as Doctors of Medicine in Florida and North Carolina respectively. Joans grandaughter Cara lives in the Deerfield Beach area. Joans extended family also includes stepson Jeff Coleman of Tampa, and stepdaughter Julie Hatchett of Fort Valley, GA. Joans extended family also includes step grandchildren; Brandon, Bradley, Kirsten, Adam as well as many great grandchildren.
