Douglas Roger Stewart

Douglas Roger Stewart was born February 15, 1950, and raised in the Portland, Oregon area. Some of his most cherished childhood memories were spent with family at Happy Camp on the Oregon coast and later living on a houseboat along the river. From an early age, Doug carried an adventurous spirit and curiosity for how things worked.

Doug worked a variety of jobs throughout his life and developed a deep love for cars, especially fast cars, classics, and convertibles. He enjoyed working on and detailing them, attending car shows and talking shop with other car enthusiasts. Most conversations with Doug would somehow find their way back to cars, often with familiar references like “Ya know, that guy with the old Ford pickup..”

Doug met his wife Mary at a park in Portland. After getting to know each other, they married about a year later. A spontaneous stop in Olympia, WA. led them to settle there, making it their lifelong home.

Doug loved his family deeply and was especially proud of his five children – Tracie, Douglas Jr., Tracina, Michael, and Jason, along with his fourteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter. One beloved grandson preceded him in passing.

Doug appreciated life’s simple joys, especially with Mary by his side. Sunny days, good music, conversation and time with family. He passed away peacefully at home on February 27th, 2026, surrounded by those he loved. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of cars, boating, music, and the deep joy he found in his grandchildren.
