Gary A. Yoshii
Jun 4, 1958 — Jul 8, 2026
Gary A. Yoshii, born on June 4, 1958, in Honolulu, HI, passed away on July 8, 2026, in Lacey, WA. Gary’s life was a testament to resilience, laughter, and boundless generosity—a presence that shaped his family and community in ways that will never be forgotten.
Gary’s story began under the gentle sun of Honolulu, where he grew up surrounded by the warmth of family and the vibrant spirit of the islands. In 2000, he began a new chapter in Washington State, living first in Lakewood until 2003, then settling in Lacey, where he cultivated new roots and friendships.
As a skilled John Deere mechanic with WA Tractor from 2000 to 2007, Gary’s hands were gifted with patience and precision. His commitment to his craft was a reflection of his dedication to the people he served. Never one to rest, Gary later opened a small engine repair shop, running it passionately until 2018. Through every repair, every lesson taught, and every challenge, Gary gave his best, earning the respect and admiration of customers and colleagues alike.
Yet, Gary’s proudest moments were those spent with his beloved family. He is survived by his loving wife, Vera Yoshida, who stood by his side through every triumph and trial. His daughter, Erica Yoshii, and son, Harley Yoshii, carry forward his legacy of curiosity and kindness. His brother Ty Yoshii (Dolly), brother Lance Yoshii (Davalyn), and sister Mona Konno, along with six nieces and three nephews, mourn the loss of a brother and uncle who never failed to brighten the room with his warmth and spirited wit.
Gary’s laughter was infectious—a true jokester and entertainer, he cherished the times when he could bring joy to others. Weekends were often filled with the aroma of expertly grilled food and the sound of family gathered together, stories and jokes echoing late into the evening. One of Gary’s passions was teaching his children the art of car racing and maintenance at the local race track, creating cherished memories of shared victories and lessons learned beneath the hood of a car.
Those who knew Gary remember him for his quick humor, his generous spirit, and his deep belief in the importance of family and friendship. Whether over a BBQ in the backyard or guiding a loved one through a tricky engine repair, Gary gave his time and wisdom freely, always putting others first.
The legacy Gary leaves behind—a legacy of laughter, craftsmanship, and unconditional love—will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A casual memorial service to honor and celebrate Gary’s life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Lacey, located at 2830 Willamette Dr NE, Lacey, WA 98516. All who knew Gary and wish to pay their respects are welcome.
