Roger Wheldon Biddle
Aug 12, 1947 — Jun 30, 2026
The world became a little dimmer with the passing of Roger Biddle after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Roger Wheldon Biddle was born on August 12, 1947, in Medford, Oregon. He spent his entire youth in the Rogue Valley, attending school and growing up in Phoenix, Oregon. It was there that he met the love of his life, Marlene Campbell. As life often does, however, it took them in separate directions.
In his early twenties, Roger moved to Sacramento, California, where he married Virginia Cobb and raised a daughter, Tammy. He remained in the area for more than 40 years, making many lifelong friends through his work in construction and transportation, as well as through his passion for bowling. Roger took great pride in the fact that he never missed a year of league bowling for more than 50 years, until his health no longer allowed him to participate. He was also an avid sports fan, especially of the Oregon Ducks, NASCAR, and sprint car racing.
After his marriage ended in the late 1990s, fate brought Roger and Marlene together once again. A chance encounter with a former schoolmate led Roger to discover that Marlene was divorced and living in Ohio. One letter—and countless hours of phone conversations—later, they were married at Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park.
Together they shared a love of travel and enjoyed many wonderful adventures across the United States, including a train trip through Alaska and several cruises. After retiring, they moved from California to Washington State, living in both the North and South Sound. There, Roger's friendly personality, quick wit, and genuine kindness earned him many more cherished friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Wheldon and Helen Biddle, and his daughter, Tammy.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marlene; his brother, Rodney Biddle; his daughters, Andrea Roberts and Elana Vanoli; his son, Robert La Turco; and seven beloved grandchildren.
Per Roger's request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the cancer organization of your choice
