Ernest E Montoya
Oct 24, 1940 — Sep 16, 2026
Ernest E Montoya was born on October 24th 1940 to Salvador and Manuelita Montoya in Ignacio, Colorado.
Ernest “Ernie” passed peacefully on September 16th 2026. After a long journey battling Dementia, he was surrounded by family and love till the end.
Born the youngest of 4 brothers, he was very dedicated to family. He loved being of service. Starting out as a young butcher, he successfully worked his way up and retired as a respected president of the UFCW Local 554 United
Commercial Food Workers Union.
Dad loved a variety of travel from the desert to the tropical islands, natural born artist, classic car enthusiast, golfer, entrepreneur, a man of many hobbies. Fishing was a favorite. Always up for a good time, Dad loved to take control on the dance floor, and was quite the crooner.
He is survived by his son, two daughters, one daughter in-law and two granddaughters.
He was also known as Papa.
He is also survived by his loving cousins on both sides of the Silva and Tafoya families.
We are honored to be a part of papa’s amazing life journey. Life will be forever changed with his passing, we love and miss him very much.
Our family would like to graciously thank the Fieldstone Memory Care team in Olympia for their heartfelt care and support for our Father till the end.
There will be a celebration of life in the new year.
