John Jerome "Jerry" Peterson, a cherished figure known for his outgoing nature, analytical mind, and warm friendliness, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, in Olympia, Washington. Born on February 11, 1944, in Denver, Colorado, Jerry's life was marked by dedication, camaraderie, and profound love for family.

A graduate of Shoreline High School in 1962 and the University of Washington in 1968, Jerry's educational background laid a strong foundation for his successful career. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, demonstrating his commitment to country. Professionally, he was associated with Real Estate- Sound Commercial Properties and later with Coca Cola, contributing his expertise and passion to both enterprises.

Jerry was known among friends and acquaintances as a spirited individual who loved engaging conversations and was always eager to share knowledge and laughter. His hobbies included fishing, traveling, boating, hiking, and spending precious time with those he held dear. He was an active member of the Puget Sound Anglers and the Ski Hawks, communities that reflected his love for the outdoors and adventure.

His proudest moment was marrying Gay Mitchell on July 1, 1967, in Wenatchee, Washington—a lifelong partnership that was a cornerstone of his happiness and strength. Jerry leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his legacy: his son Scott Peterson, daughter Tracy Cutler, brother John Domde (technically cousin), sister Linda LaPlante, and five grandchildren. They remember him with great affection and respect. He was preceded in death by his daughter Dana Jones, mother Stella Copeland, father Virgil Peterson, and step-father Ben Copeland.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 20, 2026, starting 2:00 PM  at Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater, located at 455 North Street SE, Tumwater, WA 98501. This gathering will honor the remarkable life Jerry led and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.

Jerry Peterson’s legacy is one of warmth, service, and an unwavering zest for life. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
