Marcia Ann Norman

Oct 25, 1942 — Apr 1, 2025

Marcia Norman was born Marcia Nosich on October 25, 1942, in South Chicago to John and Dorothy Nosich of Serbo-Croatian descent. She had five brothers: Matt, Daniel, Robert, John, and Charles. Marcia graduated from Bowen High School in Chicago.

In 1964, she married John Brooks, and together they had two children, John and Heather Brooks.

In 1975, Marcia moved from Chicago to South King County, Washington, when John was recruited as an engineer for Boeing. They divorced in 1984.

In 1980, Marcia began working for King County Metro, where she met Richard Norman, who would later become the love of her life. They married in 1987, and Marcia, true to her inclusive nature, welcomed two bonus sons, Dave and Dan, into her family.

Together, Marcia and Richard built a home in Renton. Following her retirement, they relocated to a lake home in Tenino, Washington, in 2007.

Together, they traveled extensively, visiting China, Cuba, the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, Australia, Europe, and many places across the United States. She traveled with her daughter in Russia and Ecuador and seldom missed a new adventure. They sailed in the San Juan Islands, visited friends in Alaska, and regularly visited their children and grandchildren spread throughout Washington and Oregon.

Marcia and Richard shared a love of the card game bridge and treasured the friendships they built through the game. Marcia was a talented seamstress, a skilled quilter, and a creative and overall stitchmaster. She enjoyed participating in her book club, established a presence with the local Catholic church, and was known by her family for her love of music and annual gatherings at her home with delicious homemade food, boisterous conversation, connection, and fun.

Marcia was taken from us suddenly on April 1, 2025. She is survived by her brothers Charles and John Nosich; her uncle Gerald Nosich, her husband, Richard Norman; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Tricia Brooks; her daughter, Heather Brooks; her bonus sons, Dave Norman and Dan Norman; her former daughter-in-law, Amelia Hansen; and her former son-in-law, Jeff Denton, her grandchildren:  Erin Norman, Ryan Norman and wife Rhiannon, Rebecca North, Ali and Loren Bates, Spenser and Jessica Brooks, Maria and Josh Wright, Sasha Brooks, Adeline Denton and Sylvie Denton—her great-grandchildren: Dorothy Bates and Lucien Stratton.
