Obituary Philip Harold Andresen Jr.

Phil left this world to join his maker, parents and family on September 1, 2026. He was born in Olympia on May 15th, 1949 to Philip Sr. and his English war-bride Edna Mary (Hanks-McLean) Andresen. Phil was baptized in St. John's Episcopal Church June 19, 1949 in Olympia, Washington.

Phil was preceded in death by his mother and his father, and his brother Ian T.C. Andresen. Phil and the love of his life, Kim (Wells) were married on November 19th, 1977. He is survived by his wife Kim of Olympia, son Jeff Andresen (Jacquie) and Jeff's family of Littlerock: grand-daughters Courtney (Jeremy), Cassie (Taylor) and Dakota (Ethan), great-grandson Bodi and great-granddaughter Faye; his sister Maria (John) Skar of North Bend; niece Kari Skar and nephew Michael (Ericka) Skar and many other Andresen family members in Alaska and Washington.

Phil attended Olympia public schools, graduating from Olympia High School in August 1967 despite his lack of regard for the curriculum. He served in the Marine Corps and afterwards earned a degree in electronics. He was employed as an office products service technician by Saxon Business Products, TRW, and the State of Washington. Phil retired from the Attorney General's Office in January 2011 as Operations Manager and Deputy Information Services Director, where he formed many lasting friendships with his co-workers.

Phil was dedicated to his family, his faithful dog Maverick and treasured his long-time friendships with friends and neighbors that he made throughout his life. He was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed the 'high country' and was a passionate mule deer hunter. He was especially fond of Washington's Methow Valley, Bozeman Montana, the Crazy Mountains, and most any mule deer country. He also enjoyed hiking and down-hill skiing, shooting trap and pool, early morning trout fishing, his 2003 Honda Magna VF750C (and THE epic event!), and in his later years, writing.

It was later in his life when his world was forever changed by Alzheimer disease, and he gave it a valiant fight over the years.

He was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7

His family wishes to thank many of the dedicated caregivers at The Hampton and his Assured Hospice family (Mary and David), his friends and family that supported him as his world became affected by Alzheimer disease.

May you remember him sitting in his lawn chair in the front yard with his faithful companion Maverick, by his side. In lieu of flowers, follow your heart and support a charity of your choice.
