Robert Joseph Christopher Howden
Robert Joseph Christopher Howden was born to the late Mervin and Betty Howden in Victoria, British Columbia on February 19, 1945. He went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 80 on December 2, 2025.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Bob is survived by his son Brady; daughters-in-law Kendall and Rachel; step-sons Justin and Scott; Step-daughters-in-law Beth; and grandchildren Colby, Emily, Liam, Jacob, Naomi, Carson, Penelope, and Alex. He is also survived by his brother John (Sue) and sister Genny (Mark), in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife Joan Kathleen, his second wife Susan Lynn, his youngest son Tighe, and brothers Bill and George Murray.
Bob lived most of his life in Olympia, Washington, working for Washington State Parks and later as a Traffic Engineer for the State of Washington. He was proud of his service in the United States Navy where he was honorably discharged after serving as a Signalman on the USS Fechteler during the Vietnam War.
Bob lived life to its fullest. He found his greatest enjoyment through spending time with his family and friends. He had many hobbies, with travel and the enjoyment of the outdoors being his favorite activities. Bob traveled to numerous countries over his lifetime, experiencing God’s diverse creation and people with family and friends. He loved to hunt, fish, and garden. He also was skilled at fixing and building things and could often be seen working on cars or house projects.
Bob combined his enjoyment of travel, gifts of handiwork, and love of the Lord in support of two mission trips abroad. A highlight of his life was his mission work in Romania and Ukraine.
Bob will be remembered for his sense of humor, helpful and giving nature, and love of Costco, coffee, and Fox News. He was a person who had many interests and made friends easily and will be missed by all who knew him.
