Theodore (Ted) Elmer Robinson
Nov 23, 1936 — Oct 2, 2026
Theodore “Ted” Elmer Robinson, a devoted family man, dedicated community leader, and industrious entrepreneur, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 89.
Born on November 23, 1936, in Los Angeles, California, Ted was the son of the late Ronald Dalton and Nadene Roberts. He grew up with a vibrant, curious spirit, graduating from high school in 1955, before embarking on a life full of hard work, adventure, and deep community roots. On July 14, 1956, in Coos Bay, Oregon, Ted married the love of his life, Yvonne Rae Jones. Together, they shared a beautiful, enduring marriage of 70 years, building a legacy of love that spanned decades and crossed multiple Pacific Northwest cities, including Coos Bay, Brookings, Portland, and Prineville, Oregon, as well as Twin Falls, Idaho, and Seattle, Tacoma, and ultimately Olympia, Washington. For the last 20 years, Ted and Yvonne happily called the Friendly Ridge community in Olympia their home.
Ted was a man of remarkable work ethic. He spent 16 years working with Consolidated Freightways and 4 years with Clipper Express Co. before fulfilling his entrepreneurial dream. On July 1, 1981, he started his own successful freight company, "Best Ways." Beyond his professional achievements, Ted was deeply invested in serving others. He was an active and proud member of the Salvation Army and the Rotary Club, where he honorably served as President, leading with his characteristic wit and a genuine heart for service.
Known for his great sense of humor and witty personality, Ted brought joy to every room he entered. He was a true handyman around the house who could fix just about anything, and he enjoyed the patient focus of his lifelong stamp collection. He was an avid fan of car races, but his absolute favorite pastime was supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren by attending their games and various activities. Ted loved his wife, his family, his community, his church, and his God with an unwavering devotion.
He is survived by his beloved spouse, Yvonne Rae Robinson; his three daughters, Pamela Stewart (Dennis), Diane Baydo (Kim), and Kathy Graciano (Jon); 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Ted was preceeded in death by his parents, Ronald and Nadene; his brother, Donald; and his sister, Sally.
A service celebrating Ted's life will be held on November 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Salvation Army, located at 1505 4th Ave E, Olympia, WA 98506.
In honor of Ted’s memory, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Salvation Army.
To truly remember Ted and celebrate a life beautifully lived, his family adds a sweet final request: "Be sure to remember our dad anytime you eat a chocolate chip cookie. They were his favorite.
