William Paul Dils, born April 15, 1947, in Olympia, Washington, passed away on August 18, 2026, in Olympia. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a hardworking professional, and a man who found great joy on the water and in the company of those he loved.
William graduated from Sammish High School in 1965 and continued his education at Lower Columbia Community College. He built his career as a manager of autobody shops, bringing dedication and steady leadership to his work over the years.
Outside of work, William embraced life with enthusiasm. He enjoyed boating, flying, fishing, and camping, pursuits that reflected his love of adventure and the outdoors. His connection to the boating community was especially meaningful to him. He rose through the ranks of the Puget Sound Yacht Club, an accomplishment of which he was proud, and in 2011 he served as Commodore of PSYC. These experiences brought him friendship, purpose, and many treasured memories.
On November 11, 1994, William married Susan Blanchette, beginning a marriage that remained a cherished part of his life. Family was central to him, and he leaves behind many who will carry his memory forward with love. He is survived by his wife, Susan Dils; his sons, Jamie Bigelow and Billy Bigelow; his daughter, Kassandra Hillard; his brothers, Michale Bigelow, Pat Bigelow, Mark Bigelow, and Paul Bigelow; and his sister, Mary Bigelow. Thirteen Grandchildren and Many Great-Grandchildren that will carry on his legacy. Each of them shared in the life and love that William gave so freely, and his presence will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Dils; his mother, Ruth Dils; and his son, John Dils. Their memories remained part of his life and story, and they are remembered with him now.
A memorial service for William will be held on September 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at The Heritage Room, 604 Water St SW, Olympia, Washington 98501.
William’s life was marked by commitment, quiet accomplishment, and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
