Carol Jenkinson Kilby

June 16, 1929 — May 26, 2026

Carol Jenkinson Kilby, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at Villas of Hollybrook in Bradenton, Florida. Born on June 16, 1929, in Springfield, Ohio, Carol’s life was marked by a remarkable blend of devotion to her family, dedication to her career, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew her.

Carol graduated from Ohio State University where she was a proud member of Alpha Xi Delta, a sisterhood that no doubt helped to shape her compassionate and lively character. Her professional journey began as a dedicated flight attendant for American Airlines based in Chicago, where her warm smile and attentive care made her a favorite among passengers. She also contributed her talents as a public relations representative for GTE, before eventually pursuing her entrepreneurial spirit by owning Island Interiors in Holmes Beach, Florida—a community she called home following her move there in 1958.

Beyond her professional achievements, Carol deeply cherished her role as a homemaker. She found immense joy in caring for her family and creating a nurturing home environment. Known for her loving nature and willingness to help anyone in need, Carol had a heart as wide as the horizons she once soared across professionally.

Her passions extended into many joyful pursuits. She was an avid lover of the beach, finding peace and pleasure in the gentle ocean breeze and the soothing sounds of the waves. Carol also had a special affection for Siamese cats, which she both bred and raised, reflecting her tender spirit and nurturing soul. Additionally, she enjoyed playing Bingo, embracing the camaraderie and excitement of the game with friends and family.

Carol is lovingly remembered by her son, Steven L. Bower, who carries forward her legacy of kindness and strength. She is also survived by three grandchildren—Stephanie, Dylan, and Paige—and five great-grandchildren, who no doubt will forever cherish the stories and love she shared with them.

Her husband, Samuel L. Kilby, and her brother, Stanley Jenkinson, preceded her in death, yet their memories live on in the lives she touched and in the family she so lovingly raised.

A memorial service to celebrate Carol’s beautiful life will be held on June 6, 2026, at Griffith-Cline Funeral & Cremation Services, located at 720 Manatee Ave. West in Bradenton, Florida, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Family, friends, and all who knew Carol are invited to come together and honor the enduring spirit of a woman who truly loved to help anyone and brought light and warmth to all around her.

Carol Jenkinson Kilby's legacy is a testament to a life well-lived—one filled with love, resilience, and a heartfelt commitment to those she cherished most. Her gentle presence will be sorely missed but forever remembered.
