Barbara Susan Sosnowski

Barbara Susan Sosnowski, age 79, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026.

Barbara was born on November 24, 1946, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, at St. Vincent’s Hospital to Harry Snee and Susan Bilischko. She graduated from nursing school in 1967 and went on to work as a nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital for more than 10 years. In 1967, Barbara married Bill Sosnowski, and together they raised their four children in Ansonia, Connecticut. Barbara later moved with her family to Boca Raton, Florida, where she continued her passion for helping others. There, she became the Director of the first IVF clinic in South Florida.

Following retirement, Barbara and Bill moved to North Carolina where she found a passion for pottery, playing cards and enjoying time with friends.

She was a devout Catholic who was deeply passionate about her faith and devoted to her community. In addition to her faith and her dedication to nursing and her family, Barbara had a love for baking. In 1974, she was the runner-up in the Pillsbury Bake-Off for her recipe, “Pocket of Chocolate Cake.”

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her brother, Richard Snee; her children, Kathy, Bill, Meshell, and Dan; and her grandchildren, Cole, Will, Anna, Ella, Evangeline, and Grayson.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Barbara’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28277. The Mass will be followed immediately by a burial service at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
